After a man allegedly enters a Millcreek School and intentionally sets a fire, many are asking how he was able to get in. Surveillance video shows 30-year-old Keir Stahlsmith illegally entering McDowell Intermediate High School and trying to burn a vending machine. This happened last Wednesday, November 22nd.
The Superintendent, Bill Hall, says no one was in the building at the time because it was Thanksgiving break. A custodian opened the gym door in anticipation of scheduled sports practices. That's when Stahlsmith snuck in. "It was very isolated," Hall tells us, "but at the same time, it was a stark reminder you can never let your guard down. So, we're going to talk to our coaches again and remind them that even though school is not in session, that security is a priority."
Stahlsmith is charged with multiple crimes, including arson, burglary, and risking a catastrophe.
