Monday is Labor Day, a day for organized labor to rally in solidarity.
Northwest Pennsylvania Area Labor Federation Labor Day Parade will take place Monday morning beginning at 10:00 a.m. at 11th and State street.
Then, members of SEIU Healthcare Union will join a day of action across the country. Healthcare workers and others will rally in Perry Square park after Erie’s Labor Day Parade. They say they want to stand up against corporate greed and minimum wage jobs, and for politicians to rewrite the rules so more working people can join together in unions.
The organization, Good Jobs Nation, will also lead a rally at noon in Perry Square with the United Electrical, Radio and Machine Workers of America. The UE is fighting to keep jobs in Pennsylvania at the GE Locomotive facility in Erie.
