LECOM hosts White Coat Ceremony

First-year medical students are one step closer to becoming doctors;  the Lake Erie College of Osteopathic Medicine hosting the annual White Coat Ceremony.

Medical students in the class of 2021 received their lab jackets.  The coats are symbolic for students stepping into healthcare roles.  They also represent the transition from pre-clinical training to hands-on training.

DO Silvia Ferretti, LECOM Provost, tells us, “It's a rite of passage for medical students. When they get their white coats, they'll begin seeing patients clinically and the white coat is a symbol of everything a doctor means to a patient."

151 pharmacy students also received their white coats in a different ceremony.
