ERIE, Pa. -- The race to become county executive in 2018 begins as candidates start announcing their bids.
Erie County Executive Kathy Dahlkemper announced her bid for re-election Thursday morning, hoping for another four years to complete her vision for the county.
However, she is not alone. A local business owner is expected to announce his candidacy next week.
Brenton Davis, who is Independently registered, plans to run as well. Davis has 16 years of military experience and owns Davis Enterprises. He plans to announce his candidacy on Dec 10.
He plans to run a campaign not based on politics.
"Bring some of my 16 years of military leadership experience enlisted as an officer down to the County Courthouse to make a difference for the people here in Erie," Davis said.
More candidates may announce their campaign as the election nears. Candidates will campaign through 2017 to win the seat in 2018.
