Children are getting ready for the holidays with some unlikely shopping buddies.
Local law enforcement officers, marines and other community leaders are taking part in Shop with a Hero. Around 40 children from local schools are buying gifts at the Harborcreek Walmart. Each kid is given a $100 gift card to spend with their buddy.
Trooper Michelle McGee, Community Service Officer, says, "They're buying for themselves, maybe for other people in their family or friends and maybe even some necessities they might need and it is just such a rewarding and fun experience".
Officers say it's a great way for kids to see them in a new light this holiday season.
