Local man heads to California to assist with wildfire relief

A local man is heading out to help with the wildfire relief in California.

According to a representative of the Red Cross, the fires have already burned over 109,000 acres, caused 181,000 residents to be ordered to evacuate, and forced 590 people into shelters last night alone.

John Baker, of Erie, will brave the flames and head to CA to serve as a Logistic Supply Supervisor for Red Cross' wildfire relief.  This will be John’s second deployment this year, as he assisted previously with Red Cross' hurricane relief effort.

John will be leaving from Erie Airport early on Friday morning. He will be gone roughly two weeks.
