ERIE, Pa. -- Local tourism officials are taking a stand after a story on CBS portrayed Erie in a negative light.
The Erie Regional Chamber and Growth Partnership said the story that aired on CBS Monday night makes it more difficult to attract people and businesses to the area.
John Oliver, with Visit Erie, said the story did not portray Erie the way they see the city to be.
Oliver said Erie certainly has its issues but is a place where people work hard to fix those problems.
“It takes a very narrow view of something and doesn't really show all of what we have,” he said. “It was quite obvious in that story they weren't down at all near the bayfront, they weren't downtown to see the growth."
Both the Chamber and Visit Erie said they will continue to show the great work being down in Erie.
