LORD Corporation cuts 19 Erie jobs

One of Erie's best-known employers is trimming its local workforce.  LORD Corporation confirming Monday night 19 jobs are being impacted in Erie.

None of them are production jobs.  There will be no changes at the company's facilities in Saegertown or Cambridge Springs.  A statement from LORD President and CEO, Ed Auslander, says they are moving forward with a 'simplified global organizational structure'.

LORD's statement says:

In an effort to more closely align with market conditions and position the company effectively in 2018 and beyond, LORD is moving forward with a simplified global organizational structure.  Like many companies, LORD is always taking a look at its operations and making decisions on how to improve efficiencies and better serve our customers.  This new structure will result in the elimination of certain positions.  We made every attempt to place impacted employees into open positions.  The less than 2% of our employees departing will receive outplacement services.  We understand this is a challenging time for those impacted and do not take these decisions lightly.  LORD is in its 93rd year and growing, and these changes will position us for continued growth into the future.
