An exciting day for students in Corry, learning about STEM careers through a hands-on approach.
There's nothing like the roar of a helicopter landing on your school's football field to kick off a day of learning and activities. It's thanks to LORD Corporation and their employees that the event is possible.
Mechanical Engineer form LORD Corporation, Jonathan Sacco, tells us, "Students have to opportunity to see things that they may not have thought about, they may not have realized what all is involved, what all LORD Corporation does, how broad STEM education can be. Realizing that even if you don't end up being a scientist or engineer, you may still very well be involved in STEM."
Bill West, Director of Secondary Education, says, "This is a great, educational opportunity for these kids to see about different careers related to science, technology, engineering, art, math. They're going to be exposed to hands-on learning, they're going to get to learn from the people actually doing the job."
75 of LORD Corporation's employees gave up their work day to spend time with the students in Corry. They also told me that they're positive they'll see some of these students become LORD Corporation employees in the future.
