ERIE, Pa. -- A Millcreek Township man is charged with homicide following the stabbing death of another man at the Granada Apartment Complex on Friday.
Millcreek Police said John Trusty, 32, was stabbed and found unresponsive in the hallway of 1503 B Sunrise Lake Drive in the Granada Apartment Complex around 11:20 p.m. Trusty was transported to UPMC Hamot where he was pronounced dead.
Late Saturday night, police arrested 40-year-old Joseph Oberlander and charged him with homicide.
Millcreek police have not revealed what led them to Oberlander's arrest. However, they said they first made contact with Oberlander at the complex.
Neighbors said Oberlander lived on the bottom floor of the building where Trusty was killed.
Police are still investigating a possible motive and looking into whether or not Oberlander acted alone.
"Some people reported that they heard banging on the walls," Lt. Tim Beveridge said. "We don't know if he was knocking on the doors looking for help or what transpired or what the knocking was."
Millcreek Township supervisor John Groh said police are constantly getting called to the Granada Apartments.
"This past week there were 11 calls just between Monday and Friday," Groh said. "It was a variety of things from harassment to the murder."
The investigation is ongoing.
Oberlander is in Erie County Prison without bond.
