Man heads to trial for allegedly attempting to kill his nephew

A man accused of attempting to kill his nephew is heading to trial.

A judge bound over all of 59-year-old Edwin Pennsy's charges to trial in a preliminary hearing today.  He is charged with attempted homicide, aggravated assault, discharging a firearm into an occupied structure, two counts of terroristic threats with intent to terrorize another, simple assault, and recklessly endangering another person.

During the preliminary hearing, Pennsy's nephew took the stand saying an argument broke out between the two over dirty dishes around 4am.  The nephew says the fight escalated quickly and his uncle grabbed a 12 gauge shotgun then pointed it right at his head and fired the gun.  The nephew saying it just missed his head and went right over his shoulder, that bullet hitting the ceiling, instead.  The nephew ran from the residence and called 911, according to investigators.

All of this happening in the 3100 block of Oakdale Parkway earlier this month.

Pennsy's bail is set at $10,000.  A criminal complaint was filed, and a request was submitted to make him unable to post bail.
