Man jump ropes for three hours to raise money for SafeNet

A local man reached new heights to raise awareness for a good cause.

John Reilly jumped rope for three hours straight at Iron Oxygen Fitness.

The pursuit raised money for SafeNet, a nonprofit domestic violence service.

His handle bars are purple -- the color for domestic violence awareness month.

He said he used his odd skill as a way to make a difference.

He got the idea after hearing one in three women will experience intimate partner violence.

"I had no idea that statistic was so severe. So the number three stuck out to me and I thought, 'why don't I turn that into something positive,' so that's where the three hours came from," said Reilly.

Reilly said he hopes he inspires people to channel their talents into something good for the community.
