A 48-year-old man was rescued from Wintergreen Gorge Sunday afternoon.
The Brookside Fire Company was called for search and rescue to find the missing man who they say was stranded in the gorge overnight, between 12 to 20 hours.
Fire Chief Campy Dahlkemper says the man is reported as being hypothermic and dehydrated.
He was taken to the hospital for evaluation.
More rescue crews were called in to assist because of the man power needed to cover the large area, as well as the difficult terrain.
Dahlkemper says the rescue was mostly done by foot but they did use ATV and utility vehicles to get people further back in the woods.
Dahlkemper says, "Kuhl Hose and Harbor Creek, Belle Valley, Fairfield, and Fuller and Cresent we called for man power because you need people to cover a lot of area. We were worried about at the time the call came out we had about two half hours or three hours of light left. Once it gets dark it's almost impossible with the terrain to try and find somebody."
State police are investigating. Stay with JET 24 for updates.
