Man sentenced in DUI crash involving off duty officer

Hamilton Sentenced

ERIE, Pa - Wednesday January 10, 2017 - The driver of a third car involved in a DUI crash with an off duty Erie Police officer is sentenced this morning.

36-year-old Danny Hamilton was sentenced to 30 days on electronic monitoring, five months probation and ordered to pay fines in excess of $1,000 for his involvements in a DUI crash.

Pennsylvania State Police charge Hamilton with DUI after his car crashed into another car, driven by former Erie Police Officer Cheryl Frey, just moments after Frey had been involved in an accident that killed 57-year-old Wade Schulze last February.

Hamilton's blood alcohol level was more than double the legal limit.
