Manhunt continues for Gurto, credible tip in Girard

It's been a week of searching and following hundreds of tips in the manhunt for a Conneaut man accused of killing 13-month-old Sereniti Sutley.  But, for US Marshals and Police in both Ohio and Pennsylvania, the frustration mounts as they come up empty.

Detective Michael Sullivan of the Conneaut Police Department says "the marshals are an enormous help to us trying to locate [Joshua Gurto]. They have massive amounts of manpower looking for him as we speak."

Neighbor, Billie-Jo Compton, says, "These kids can't talk, can't walk... they need a voice".

The most credible tip so far came out of Girard at the Giant Eagle.  According to Conneaut Police Detective Michael Sullivan.  Community members say they're frustrated by the process.  Compton says, "I don't know why they let him go.  They had him in there questioning...  they had him right there now they have them on a goose chase; that's what they get. Conneaut police needs to get with it".

Sullivan tells us, "he was up a lot of hours and because of his willingness to cooperate... that's why we let him go... Plus, we didn't have any charges at the time".  Police say they're doing everything they can now that they have the evidence to back up the charges.  The detective says it's just a matter of time until they have Gurto in custody.  "He has to pop up eventually. Nobody can stay hidden forever."

If you have information on Gurto's whereabouts, call Conneaut Police at 440-593-7440.
