As the city's Director of Economic Development decides to leave the position in the new year, Mayor-Elect Joe Schember continues to develop his plan on the changes in the office.
Chris Mong accepted a position at CA Curtze in Erie. Mong has headed up the Department of Economic and Community Development for close to a year and a half. Mayor-Elect Schember says this department is one of the most important in City Hall, moving Erie forward and whoever fills Mong's shoes will play a big role in Schember's plans for the future.
"One of my top priorities is to bring more family-sustaining jobs to Erie, not government jobs. I want to help the private sector create those jobs and the economic development department is going to be very important in making that happen," says Schember.
The Mayor-Elect also says any changes to positions in City Hall or new appointments are expected to be announced by the end of the year.
