Millcreek noise ordinance approved

Millcreek township supervisors approve a new ordinance that contains rules for industrial and residential zonings.  Industrial zoning will enforce noise levels of at least 15 decibels above 77 for a time of at least 10 minutes.  Residential zoning will set the enforcement at 5 decibels above 52 at night and 55 during the day, also for a 10 minute period.

Millcreek Supervisor, John Groh, explains, "So they understand that not everything that they perceive as a noise or a violation actually is, and the same thing for people that are creating noise; have some courtesy for your neighbors, too."

The noise will be measured with an approved and calibrated smart phone app. and will be monitored at the complainant's property line.  Millcreek Police will enforce the new law.
