More on Joshua Gurto's capture

The 37-year-old suspect has been on the run for nearly three weeks since the murder on Clark Street in Conneaut.

Gurto was first spotted on surveillance video at a store on Route 20 in Girard.  Just Thursday he was caught on camera at a Sheetz in Mount Nebo in Sewickly, Pennsylvania.  And finally, the manhunt came to an end this morning in Franklin Park Borough, just north of Pittsburgh.

Joshua Gurto has been on the run since October 7th, the day he was interviewed by detectives about the death of Sereniti Sutley, his girlfriend's child.  This morning, the law caught up with him.   Police in Franklin Park Borough arrested the 37-year-old just before two this morning.

A news conference was held this morning at the Conneaut, Ohio Police Department.  Detectives working the case said Gurto was spotted at a Sheetz in Franklin Park.  An officer on patrol spotted Gurto and recognized him from social media.  The officer approached Gurto and asked his name.  Gurto admitted who he was and the officer ordered him to the ground.  He was taken into custody without incident.

Gurto was wearing a camouflage jacket and carrying a backpack when he was arrested.  "Gurto had in his backpack maps from the states of Pennsylvania and New Jersey.  He had a knife and a tent," US Marshal Pete Elliott tells us.

Gurto was taken to the Allegheny County Jail and is now awaiting extradition back to Ohio.  We're told that once all the paperwork and legal maneuvers are complete, it could be three or four days before he's brought back to Ohio.
