Every day police officers and state troopers put their lives on the line to protect their communities. Today is National Law Enforcement Appreciation Day. Some officers are saying the recognition is perfect timing after just this weekend, five troopers were shot at while handling a domestic dispute.
William Marucci was shot in the line of duty back in 2002 but says he accepts the risk as part of the job. "When this incident happened, I mean not only made me more dedicated to being a police officer. I was able to get back after a year. Having several surgeries and physical therapy... I was able to get back to the job and still had a passion for it."
Marucci says officers are always looking out for each other when they're in dangerous situations.
