'New Boots' documentary of a local man wins award

Congratulations to Meadville Film Director, Heather Reichel!  Her 2016 film paying tribute to a World War II Veteran from Crawford County is an award winner.

The film, 'New Boots,' will be honored at the 22nd International Film Festival in Cleveland in August.

'New Boots' is a documentary filmed and directed by Reichel and highlights the compelling war-time story of a local man.

In Reichel's words:

['New Boots' is the] story of a 91 year WWII veteran, Private Charles E Rudler, who was captured by the Germans and was a POW for over 5 months at the end of the war. The movie covers his trip to Europe, his time at war, his capture, his captivity and his homecoming as a first person account told in Mr Rudler's own words.

Some of Reichel's day to day video work is seen regularly here on JET 24 Action News.
