Noise ordinance proposal for Millcreek Township

Millcreek Township is considering a proposed noise ordinance that set some reasonable standards.

Currently, there are no ordinances in Millcreek Township in regards to noise.  Much of the noise problems have been handled under disorderly conduct.  This ordinance will specify a maximum allowance of noise.

The voting for this ordinance will occur in two weeks.  The meeting will be held July 25th at 7pm.

Though this ordinance will not be a cure-all for every noise problem, it will give the police something more specific to file complaints under.  Vehicles, including motorcycles, will be an exception to the ordinance because they fall under the statewide vehicle code and the township cannot override that.

John Groh, Millcreek Township Supervisor, says, "I want to specify... really stress this part... that it's based upon reasonable standards... once again the key word is reasonable."
