One man is dead, another injured in an early morning shooting on Erie's east side.
Erie Police were called to the intersection of Prospect Avenue and June Street around 1 a.m. Saturday.
Lt. Jon Peters says, "When cruisers got there, they found a deceased, 28-year-old male in the street. Shortly after, there was a call to Hamot for a gun shot victim and he was shot in the leg."
The body of the man was found around a block from Bogey's bar on Buffalo Road.
Lt. Peter says, "It appears there was a dispute in the bar that lead outside and then there was an exchange of gunfire between at least two persons."
Peters says there was multiple shots fired.
One hit the leg of another man who needed surgery but Peters says he had non-life threatening injuries.
Neighbors say this isn't the first incident at Bogey's, but it is the worst they've seen. And they say it's too close to home.
Alejandro Adrover says, "It's more than just the shooting. The bar's a nuisance. It's not everyday. You know I'm a patron of the bar sometimes and I'm all for the American dream and a local business but it's not an American dream when you're putting other people's lives at risk because of a nuisance."
Adrover says majority of the people in the neighborhood have children, including him with a daughter who's a toddler.
Adrover says, "I'd love to see her grow old and have a family some day and to realize that somebody died 15 yards from where she sleeps is a little unnerving to me. And something needs to be done about it."
Adrover says, "The people in the community are the ones left to deal with this. Everyone goes on with day-to-day-life and we have to live with the realization that somebody took their last breath there last night. And that's a little too unrealistic for me."
Police say the shooting is still under investigation and they are looking at surveillance video and interviewing neighbors with limited cooperation.
Officials are not releasing the identity of the man who died until family is notified.
No arrests have been made at this time.
