Owner of Warren's Auto files appeal to save business

ERIE, Pa. -- The owner of Warren's Auto Service in downtown Erie is hoping to save his business after filing an appeal.

Warren Ferraro appealed the sheriff sale of his property at West 12th and Peach streets. It sold after Ferraro racked up $16,000 in unpaid property taxes.

He has since missed several hearings on the sale but filed an appeal before the 30-day deadline. Meantime, the city's code enforcement office is keeping an eye on the run down property.

"We have sent more notices of violations and we will continue to monitor it and wait for a court date,” said Andy Zimmerman, manager of code enforcement.

If Ferraro loses his appeal, Guy Leroy, of Philadelphia, will be awarded the property.
