A state-wide tour brings an influential group here to Erie. Visit Erie is hosting a two-day 'Whirl Wind Tour' for the Pennsylvania House Tourism Committee.
First on their agenda, a trip to the Erie Insurance Arena. There was also a trip to the historic Warner Theatre. All tourism-related legislation in the state goes through this committee made up of representatives throughout the Commonwealth.
David Millard, Chairman PA House Tourism Committee says, "Every community has a sparkle... has crown jewels and this community happens to have several."
President and CEO of Visit Erie, John Oliver, says it's an opportunity to show "first-hand... these representatives the impact that tourism has on our economy, the growth, and what the future... more importantly, what do we see as the future of tourism."
Today, the committee will hear from Scott Enterprises. That's in addition to visiting Waldameer, Presque Isle State Park, the Maritime Museum, and other attractions throughout their 13 hour day.
