The Million Parent March was held in Washington DC today to raise awareness on an issue known as ‘parental alienation’. Here in Erie, a group called, ‘Parental Alienation Awareness, PA’ held their own rally outside the Erie County Courthouse.
Parental Alienation occurs when one parent wrongfully takes action against another parent to prevent them from seeing their children. Often, false allegations are made to obtain PFA’s or get Child Protective Services involved in attempts to remove a child from a parent’s care. And, in some cases, according to the rally’s organizers, custody orders are simply not being enforced.
Jim Pancurak, of Parental Alienation Awareness (PAA) says about his children, “They probably don't even know I'm alive. But, I'm here for them, and I will keep fighting for them."
Julia Rummings, of PAA, also tells us, “A child needs both a father and a mother. And, no matter what he wanted to do, and move on in life, he shouldn't have done this just to get me out of the picture."
