PennDOT announces plans for McBride Viaduct

The City of Erie and the Pennsylvania Department of Transportation invite the public to an open-house format plans display concerning the removal of the bridge on the McBride Viaduct (East Avenue) over the CSX Transportation railroad tracks in the City of Erie, Erie County.

Anyone interested in the project is welcome to attend to view project maps, final design plans, and the construction schedule.  The consultant team and officials of the City of Erie and PennDOT will be available to answer questions.

The project will primarily consist of removing the existing 1,170-foot bridge and all piers, steps and ramps while providing adjacent pedestrian improvements.  In addition, a fence will be installed for pedestrian protection from the existing CSX railroad tracks.

The purpose of the plans display is to receive public input regarding any questions or concerns with the project.

The plans display will be available Wednesday, October 25, 2017 from 6 to 8pm at East Middle School, 1001 Atkins Street, 16503.

The display location is accessible to anyone with disabilities. The project documents will be made available in alternative languages or formats if requested.  If you need translation/interpretation services, please contact Ms. Lisa Olszak Zumstein, Olszak Consulting, at (724) 679-9261.

For more information about the plans display open house, please contact Brian Krul at bakrul@transystems.com or (412) 402-4813 or visit the project website: www.mcbrideviaduct.com.
