The finishing touches are happening on the major renovations at the Erie Playhouse.
Crews are getting ready to paint the stage, hang the lights and clean up the dust at the Playhouse. The renovations include a new, bigger stage, orchestra pit and many more improvements. There were some small set-backs throughout the process, pushing the start of the season back from October 5th to the 26th. But, crews will begin moving in the set for Momma Mia at the end of this week for the opening next week.
Executive Director, Kate Neubert-Lechner, tells us, "It's been really incredible to watch the process though, to walk into this theater that I've grown up in and to see a pit and dirt and then to see where we are now in such a short amount of time..."
Momma Mia will run October 26th through November 19th. The Youth Theatre show, Jack and the Beanstalk will take the stage at Strong Vincent Middle School in November instead of the Playhouse.
