Plowing/towing continues tomorrow on West 12th to West 16th

So far, over 130 cars were moved and 62 towed as the Erie Streets Department and the City of Erie Police Department conduct snow removal operations.  Vehicles that are found to be in violation of the even-odd parking or other parking violations will be ticketed and towed. Vehicles that are found to be impeding or obstructing the flow of traffic will be ticketed and towed.

Tomorrow, Wednesday, January 10th, they will be in the area of West 12th to West 16th between Lincoln to Kahkwa.  Vehicles that are found to be in violation of the even-odd parking or other parking violations will be ticketed and towed. Vehicles that are found to be impeding or obstructing the flow of traffic will be ticketed and towed.

In addition to the cost of the fine, towing and storage, owners may be assessed additional fees for recovering the vehicle from snow built up around it.

Steve Sornberger, Bureau Chief of Streets, tells us, "When we had the warm up everything kind of blew up. Everything that was compacted, it puffed up again and then we had eight to ten inches more of snow to deal with in some of these areas."

Sornberger says people are cooperating for the most part, but there's still a lot of work ahead in terms of handling the snow.  He says a new concern is overflowing sewers with the snow melting.

Residents in this area that are aware of a vehicle obstructing traffic are encouraged to contact the owner and advise them of this snow removal operation.
