Police attempt to locate owners of vehicles before towing today

Erie Police were out in force this morning, attempting to contact the owners of cars buried in the snow before towing them away.

Andrew Russell spent hours digging out his vehicle.  He was told if he didn't clear the ice and snow from his pick-up truck it would have been towed and that would have cost him plenty.  A joint effort between Erie Police and the Streets Department is meant to clear the streets of vehicles that have been parked since the Christmas snowstorm that dumped six feet of snow in just a couple of days.

With the cars and trucks blocking the streets, plows have been unable to clear the streets properly.  So, this morning, beginning at 8am, police were attempting to contact owners of vehicles before towing.  If no one was found, they were removed.
