Police probe crash involving stolen truck

Building and pedestrian struck

Erie, PA - Erie police say a wild ride with a stolen truck has one man in custody and another in the hospital.

Just before 5 o'clock Monday evening, a pick-up truck crashed into the building at 311 West 24th Street.

The driver, identified by police as Jacob Doss, then fled to nearby Saint Vincent Hospital emergency room where he was caught.

Police say it began with the 22 year old suspect pretending to be hit by that pickup at 17th and State Streets.

When the driver got out to see what happened, police say Doss jumped in and stole the vehicle.

Moments later,  he allegedly struck a pedestrian at West 26th and Sassafras streets before crashing into the building.

No word on the condition of the pedestrian, described as an elderly man.

Charges are pending.
