The murder trial for 27-year-old Merle Page is underway. Page is accused of shooting Marcel Flemings after a fight outside of the Shell gas station on East 6th and Parade streets in January 2017.
Testimony began this morning as the Commonwealth called several witnesses to the stand, including Erie Police Officers and Detectives first on the scene, as well as Erie County's Forensic Pathologist, Dr. Eric Vey. The DA's office also playing the surveillance video from the Shell Station from the night of the shooting.
The prosecution is seeking a first-degree murder conviction. The defense, not arguing the fact that Page shot Flemings, is asking the jury to reconsider the degree of the charge, claiming the crime was not premeditated.
Testimony will continue in the case tomorrow (Tuesday).
