Rick Weaver Buick trial postponed

A trial for an Erie car dealership fraud case in Federal Court is postponed. The attorneys for both the prosecution and those representing Rick Weaver Buick GMC Inc. are asking for more time to prepare for the trial.

Adam Weaver, the owner of Rick Weaver Buick, Doug Grooms, the Sales Manager at the time, and Adam Coover plead not guilty on charges of wire fraud and conspiracy to commit wire fraud.

According to the Federal Government, these car dealers allegedly defrauded loan providers by using straw purchasers to buy vehicles and then finance them for more than their actual value.

The trial was originally set to begin next week.  A new trial date has not yet been set.
