Some Lake City residents to see new water pipelines after interesting discovery...

Several Lake City residents who are dealing with low water pressure are close to a solution to their problem.

Five houses in a subdivision in the 2900 block of Mechanic Street receive water from Girard, but those homes are located in Lake City.  An attorney for the homeowners in the subdivision says a one-inch pipe designed for just one house has been serving all five.  Over that time, that line has deteriorated, breaking last July and again this month.

Monday night, the Lake City Borough Council voted for a new pipeline.  City Solicitor Edward Betza says, "It allows us to get water to those five residents at no additional cost to the taxpayers of Lake City at no risk to Girard, yet the water quality would be acceptable and good for those residents."

Betza says Girard and Lake City must now make an agreement and Lake City will make a separate agreement with the homeowners.
