The Erie City Special Olympics Team will be among the more than 2,000 athletes participating in the Special Olympics Summer Games at Penn State this year.
The Erie team's events will include aquatics, athletics, basketball, equestrian sports, and golf. "This is a great event because it gives everybody in the state of Pennsylvania together in one location," says Nicole Delsandro, Special Olympics Manager, "So, this is our biggest event we have other than local where they compete against each other. This event lets them compete with athletes from the state of Pa."
The event will be held at Medlar Field on Penn State's campus in University Park, PA today until June 3rd.
This is the 27th year Penn State University has hosted the Special Olympics Summer Games.
