Spike in accidents over New Year's weekend

You might want to blame Mother Nature, but State Police are reporting a big spike in accidents over the New Year weekend.

In fact, the number of accidents almost doubled from last year, many of those involved blaming the wrecks on slippery conditions.  There were 1169 crashes over the long weekend, way up from last year's 595.  Two people were killed on the roads, though, this year versus four last year.

DUI arrests were also down.  These numbers are for State Police incidents only.
