St. Vincent announces part two of their $115 million transformation strategy

Saint Vincent announces part two of its $115 million transformation strategy.  The next phase in Highmark Health's improvement plan is the development of a new Women's and Infants Center at the hospital.

This $9.5 million renovation of the hospital's fifth floor will house labor, delivery, postpartum, and other women's care services.  The hospital says the renovations to this inpatient facility will provide care for women and families in a comfortable, family-friendly setting with more space, renovated bathrooms and the latest advanced medical equipment.

A new, state of the art nursing station will also be constructed on the floor to improve workflow and communication with both patients and visitors.  Dr. Chris Clark, President, tells us, "this isn't all about aesthetics; this is clearly something that we are doing to enhance the care and delivery of our patients.  So, we are doing this with doctor and nurses' input to try and help the way we communicated with each other".

Construction actually started on the facility yesterday.  They will be working around the current rooms in labor and delivery, causing the least disruption possible.  They expect the new Allegheny Health Network Women and Infants Center to be completed by August of next year.
