Suspected shooter doesn't enter plea, grandma said he never planned to

A man charged with attempted murder was set to plead guilty in court Tuesday morning, but didn't.

Quran Lindsey-Cooley, 18, will head to trial now on charges of attempted murder.

Lindsey-Cooley is accused of shooting a 29-year-old man in a car on the corner of East 23rd and Wallace Streets last year.

Lindsey-Cooley was scheduled to plead guilty, but his lawyer says he decided not to.

However his grandmother says he never planned to plead guilty or enter into any plea agreement with the state.

Cynthia Muhammad, Lindsey-Cooley's grandmother, says, "We're going to trial, yeah. We're going to trial because the evidence will prove that's he's incident. How can he be the person who shot somebody and there were two people sitting in the back seat and he went around the front of the car and he was shot? That's ridiculous."

The prosecution said in the courtroom they do not see this trial begin continued for any reason and will begin soon.
