Unified Erie is once again kicking off the second Take me to Worship campaign. They say the data and research shows kids who attend a religious organization at least an hour once a week live a healthier lifestyle.
Unified Erie says they're kicking off the campaign at back to school time because data shows this time of the year is comparable to New Year's resolutions for families and they want families to incorporate going to church into their new routines.
Community Action Plan Coordinator Andrea Bierer tells us, "When we ran every data set, there's a stair-step relationship between how much they participate and their outcomes in every problem behavior that we study - whether it was drugs, alcohol, suicide, depression, teen pregnancy, violence, on-and-on the list went. The more they go, as in once a week at least, the healthier they are."
The Take me to Worship campaign signs and materials are available for any religious organization in Erie County.
