Teachers at Erie County Technical School still without contract

Erie Co Technical School Admin hopes for raise

ERIE, Pa - Thursday September 28, 2017 - The Joint Operating Committee for the Erie County Technical School is expected to vote on administrative pay increase, while the union hopes they hold off for one more month.

The teachers at the Erie County Technical School are going into their fourth school year without a contract. The ATF Local 1589 president, Marty Burnham, says they have made progress over the last several months, but their latest proposal was rejected by the Committee in August.

The administration has had a salary increase proposal in front of the Committee over the past two months. The vote was tabled in both June and August. Burnham says he believes they will table it again so they can continue negotiations. Meantime, School Director, Dr. Aldo Jackson, believes it will go through under the assumption that the union contract will be complete next month.

The salary increase calls for a jump of 2.75% annually over the next three years.

Burnham says they have every intention of getting together as soon as possible to go back through the tentative agreement and come to a consensus on salary.
