Canines three months and older are required to be licensed in the City of Erie.
This is for the safety and security of the animal in the event a resident’s pet or service animal becomes lost or stolen, to get them back home to their owners as quickly as possible. New and renewal licenses will also be available, for purchase at City Hall in the Treasurer’s Office, The Humane Society of NW PA – 2407 Zimmerly Road ($1.00 handling fee added), and the A.N.N.A. Shelter – 1555 East 10th Street ($1.00 handling fee added). Applications are available for pick up at Grooming by Charlene – 1712 West 8th Street, Nickel Plate Mills – 1932 Parade Street, and Mud Puppies Self Service Dog Wash – 3867 Peach Street. You can also download the application online at the City of Erie’s website.
The license fee has remained the same, $8.00 for animals that are not spayed/neutered, and $6.00 for spayed/neutered animals. Discounts apply for owners over 65 years of age and those with disabilities. We anticipate City of Erie residents will find this procedure helpful in maintaining a safe community as well as for the safety of their animals.
The City of Erie will once again mail renewal applications to all households currently issued a 2017 Dog License. Owners can easily update information as necessary and return the renewal application, along with payment and a self-addressed stamped envelope to: City of Erie Dog License Renewal 626 State Street – Room 105 Erie, PA 16501. The database will be updated and tags mailed out immediately.
