"Travel writers" help boost Erie tourism

VisitErie hosts travel writers during the spring, summer, and fall months

September 28, 2017 - ERIE, Pa - VisitErie is welcoming travel writers to the area, as it's an easy, cost effective way to promote tourism.

VisitErie says for years these writers have been visiting, not only from the tri-state area, but across the country. One time, a writer even visited from Holland. Their articles generate hundreds of thousands of views, encouraging folks to visit the area.

Christine Temple, the Director of Communications at VisitErie serves as the tour guide to these writers. She explains, "They all go to Presque Isle State Park, no matter what. and then everything else on their trip is just tailored to what their likes are. Some of them come in and they just want to do the Lake Erie ale trail, and they just want to do microbreweries. Some of them, wineries. and then we've got some that want to do green attractions!"

Most recently, a travel writer from Houston, Texas published her article on Erie. It highlighted many of the area's attractions including Waldameer, Splash Lagoon, and restaurants. It also praised our fall season.
