Made in AmERIca: Lake City Homes

In this week's edition of Made in AmERIca, David Belmondo takes a look at a 45 year old company that custom designs and builds modular homes.
November 24, 2013 - The winter weather has set in and for the most part, home construction has come to a halt, but at Lake City Homes, the elements don't matter when home construction is underway.

For the past 45 years, this local company has been designing and custom building modular homes: homes that are made in America, made right here.

Someone's dream house starts right here and in a matter of days ends up at the other end of this huge construction site.

Lake City Homes has been a family-owned business for the past 45 years, Lisa Garity Carr's dad started the business.

Homeowners can tour 5 different models and there are hundreds of house plans to choose from, or you can custom design your own.

The house is built in sections and because it's inside, it doesn’t matter what the weather is like outside.

By the time the house gets to its new address, it's 90 percent complete, and that includes the handmade cabinets and granite counter tops as well.

Each section is trucked to the construction site where the basement has been dug and the site is ready for someone's new home.

A home made locally, made right here.
