ERIE, Pa. -- Darion Eady was found guilty of third-degree murder Wednesday in the shooting death of a 16-year-old boy at an Erie house party in 2015.
Eady, 22, who did not take the stand in his own defense, was found guilty on all charges Wednesday following closing arguments at the Erie County Courthouse.
Elijah Jackson was shot and killed at 230 W. 29th St., on July 24, 2015 during a house party.
During opening statements Tuesday, the district attorney's office and the defense disputed DNA evidence that was found at the scene.
The DA's office said a gun that was found at the scene had Eady's DNA on it. The defense argued that the DNA found on a .22 caliber gun was inconclusive, stating reports by the Pennsylvania State Police found there were other fingerprints on the gun.
Four other men are charged in the death of Shakur Franklin, 16, who was shot and killed at the same party.
Demond Mitchell, Stephen Russell, Jahaun Jones and Keshawn McLaurin are charged with the death of Franklin. Last October, a judge granted a motion filed by Eady's attorney to have a separate trial from the other four suspects.
The trial for the four men is scheduled for April 24. The four suspects will face trial together.
