OCTOBER 18, 2013- As Election Day is fast approaching, county officials raise awareness for voter ID requirements.
Doug Smith, the Erie County Clerk of Elections, urges the public to be aware of new voter ID rules.
He says the requirement to produce photo ID’s is not in effect.
However, you will be asked to show photo ID at the polls.
He says you will still be allowed to cast a regular ballot without a photo ID.
But, voters who are voting for the first time in a polling place are required under current law to present a form of ID.
If you have questions regarding voter ID, you can reach the election office at 451-6089.
