The Erie Playhouse Youtheatre closes out their 13-14 season with the delightful musical adaption, A Little Princess May 9-11, 16-18.

Based on Frances Hodgson Burnett’s children’s novel, A Little Princesshas been adapted for the stage and film many times – the most popular being the 1936 film starring Shirley Temple. This musical adaptation features music by Andrew Lippa, best known for the Broadway nominated musical The Addams Family.
A Little Princess is similar to Burnett’s more famous novel, The Secret Garden, in that it concerns a young girl born to British parents in the 19th century. In this tale, Sarah Crewe (Emily Bahm) is sent to boarding school while her widowed father, Capt. Crewe (Keegan Kennedy),explores Africa. There she encounters a sympathetic servant girl, Becky (Reagan Kennedy), and a villainous headmistress, Miss Minchin (Lydia Lent). When things go badly for Sarah at boarding school, her imaginative powers come to the rescue, helping to transform a drab institution into a place of magic and mystery. A talented group of veterans and newcomers rounds out the cast.
A Little Princessis directed/choreographed by Almitra Clerkin. Angela Howell designs the costumes with additional wardrobe provided by cast members, and Joe Hassler creates the sets and lights for the show.

A Little Princess – a little girl with a big imagination faces adversity with the grace and virtue of a little princess. Perfect for the entire family.
