Abandoned House Fire

Seven crews team up to battle blaze

May 28, 2014- An abandoned house went up in flames very early this morning, sending more than a half-dozen fire crews into action.

Fire fighters were called to that blaze near the intersection of Route 98 and Old State Road in Franklin Township just after midnight. When the first departments arrived on scene, the house was fully involved with smoke and flames pouring from the home. The house reported as abandoned at the time the call came out.

Even though the house was vacant, the crews still had some challenges to deal with, like a lack of fire hydrants in the area, and Penelec was called to cut power to the house.

The house is considered a total loss, and the PA State Fire Police Marshal has been called to determine the cause of the fire.
