Alumni Group Establishes Scholarship With Proceeds from Sale of Frat House

Active members of the Tau Kappa Epsilon fraternity at Gannon University will benefit from an endowed scholarship
Erie, Pa; Active members of the Tau Kappa Epsilon fraternity at Gannon University will benefit from an endowed scholarship
set up by fraternity alumni. The Delta Chi of TKE Housing Corporation sold their house at 246 W. Sixth St. to the University
and allocated $62,000 from the proceeds of the sale to establish the Tau Kappa Epsilon Endowed “Power” Scholarship,
which will be matched by Gannon under the provisions of the Tom Power “Power” Scholarship Challenge.

The endowment benefits active members of the TKE fraternity who are campus or fraternity leaders and maintain a
minimum grade point average of 3.0.

“The chapter alumni reached the conclusion that it would be much wiser to invest in the academic success of our
undergraduate members rather than in brick and mortar,” said Erie attorney Rick Filippi, president of the corporation.

The former TKE house was dedicated in April as Gannon University’s Forensic Investigation Center. The academic center
will bring to students enrolled in Gannon’s criminal justice program an unprecedented level of technology and training
options that can lead to a wide range of careers in what is quickly becoming a technology-oriented field.

The Tau Kappa Epsilon Endowed “Power” Scholarship is among the almost 200 scholarships at Gannon endowed by
corporations, foundations, families and individuals. Last year, Gannon University awarded nearly $914,000 in scholarships
to more than 400 deserving students from a diversity of locations, backgrounds and financial circumstances.

More than 90 percent of undergraduate students received some type of Gannon grant or scholarship. Endowed gifts to
Gannon can also help fund faculty positions, professorships, chairmanships, faculty excellence and study abroad programs
at the University.
