Blessing of the Bikes Emotional Event for Local Man

Harold Stablein, brother of William Stablein - the man who died following a motorcycle crash last week - opens up about his brother's death, and asks the public for an increase in motorcycle awareness.
As is the case, year after year, bikers from near and far wrapped up their Roar on the Shore festivities with the Blessing of the Bikes.

The blessing is to provide protection over the bikers as they head home, but today’s blessing event also had a deeper meaning for one local man.

Harold Stablein’s older brother, William, was killed following a motorcycle crash that happened during the evening hours last Thursday.

Although the pain is fresh and heavy in his heart, Stablein wanted to share a message to the public: to please increase motorcycle awareness.

Stablein said his brother was a great guy, who loved riding, but knew the dangers of being a motorcyclist.

Stablein hopes that moving forward, drivers on the road really pay extra attention to bikers, especially since motorcycle season is far from over, and he hopes that it becomes understood the difficulties of being able to stop quickly on a motorcycle.

He also has extended the invitation for any bikers, who are interested, to join the procession for his brother’s memorial services on Wednesday, at 10am at Dusckas Funeral Home.
