Casey Pushes for Workplace Protections for Pregnant Workers

Pregnant Workers Fairness Act Would Require Reasonable Accommodations for Pregnant Workers
Ahead of Mother’s Day, U.S. Senator Bob Casey (D-PA) will push for passage of the Pregnant Workers Fairness Act, which would require employers to offer reasonable accommodations for pregnant workers and prevent employers from forcing women out on leave when a reasonable accommodation would allow them to continue working.

The bill also bars employers from denying employment opportunities to women based on their need for reasonable accommodations related to pregnancy, childbirth, or related medical conditions.

Some states and localities, including cities like Philadelphia, have passed laws like the Pregnant Workers Fairness Act to ensure that pregnant workers have on-the-job protections.
