Catholic Schools To Merge

Two schools in the Catholic Diocese of Erie will see new changes in the next school year.
Two schools in the Catholic Diocese of Erie will see new changes in the next school year.

St Boniface and Our Lady Mount Carmel will form a new partnership that dioceses hopes will save both the schools.

The Diocese says they are thinking outside the box to keep schools open and the catholic school education viable for students.

They announced today that a new partnership with St Boniface and Our Lady Mount Carmel will create some changes for the 2014 -15 school year.

The plan will keep both the schools open but will move all of grades five through eight to Our Lady Mount Carmel.

Current enrollment at Our Lady Mount Carmel is one hundred and nineteen while St Boniface sits at sixty seven..

To keep the schools open the diocese is trying a new approach with both the schools.

The timing was right for the change with both the principals from each school retiring at the end of this year.

Families and faculty members were alerted to the changes today.
